While we continuously strive to manufacture products with an emphasis on quality and efficiency, we are equally focused on protecting the environment that surrounds us.
RoHS Compliance
All of the JOFRA temperature calibrators manufactured at our Danish Center of Excellence are built with components and parts from our certified, approved partners. Only partners who supply RoHS compliant parts and components are accepted as suppliers. All JOFRA temperature calibrators are also CE marked and certified. Part of the CE certification covers the RoHS EU directive which regulates the “Restriction of Hazardous Substances” in electrical and electronic equipment. This means that the levels of 10 banned substances in our products are below the RoHS threshold. These restricted substances are: Cadmium, Lead, Hexavalent chromium, Mercury, Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE), Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), Benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP), Dibutyl phthalate (DBP), and Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP).
Elretur
The Danish Center of Excellence, where JOFRA temperature calibrators are manufactured, is a member of the Elretur organization, whose sole purpose is to ensure that all manufacturers of electronics and electrical equipment take responsibility for the correct handling and disposal of worn-out electronics and batteries. Recycling and reuse is an integral part of how we as a corporation act, and as member of Elretur, we contribute to the UN’s world goals, in particular Nos. 11, 12 and 14.
Converting 3rd Party Packaging into Alternative Fuel
At our facility in Largo Florida, secondary packaging materials (plastics, cardboard, and foam) are segregated and collected by NuCycle Energy who converts the landfill bound wastes into alternative fuel material (Enviro Fuelcubes®). Through this process, our waste is turned into cost effective and cleaner burning fuel which is directed into energy-intensive industrial processes.
Reduction of Energy Consumption
Since 2017 we have actively worked on reducing the energy consumption throughout our facilities worldwide, and we continue to strive to improve our energy footprint. Turning off the lights at our facilities at night, installing automatic light sensors in restrooms, changing light bulbs to energy-saving LED’s, and turning off air conditions in the offices at night are a few examples of implementations that have been carried out at our facilities across USA and Europe.
For our facility in Denmark, where our JOFRA and Erichsen products are manufactured, the energy saved by changing our light bulbs to LED and turning off the office air conditioning at night led to a reduction of 20% in power consumption (kWh) the period 2016 to 2020.
Electrical Car Fleet
To help reduce the CO2 emission, we implemented a new policy for our company car fleet in 2021. Starting this year, all new cars in our Danish fleet will be powered by either hybrid or full electrical technologies. Over the next 5-6 years, all diesel- and petrol-based cars in our fleet will be replaced. Converting all new cars in our fleet to either hybrid or full electrical drive systems goes hand-in-hand with our ambition to reduce our global carbon footprint.
Environmentally Conscious Transportation
We continuously strive to reduce the CO2 emission and global carbon footprint that our company generates. To achieve this, we cooperate with freight service companies that have implemented environmentally sustainable strategies and who actively commit to continuous improvement in their environmental management. One of the solutions used by our vendors to reduce pollution and congestion is alternative, eco-friendly transportation for the last mile delivery.
